WAYS
TO WIN!

Winning as a team: â€‹

Size Category:

To even out the competition, teams are divided into categories based on size. If you are the ONLY team in your category to achieve All-Star status (meaning you get every single person at your workplace to log a sustainable commute) then you WIN. If more than one team achieves All-Start status, then the winner is decided by the leader boards. The winning team gets a pizza party!

Best Team Photo:

Enter your best shot by tagging #missoulainmotion or emailing it to mim@missoulainmotion.com. The winning team will win a custom set of office mugs with the photo printed on them!

Best Social Media Presence:

Tag #missoulainmotion on all our Commuter Challenge posts! The team with the best content will win a printed photo collage!

Most Into It Team:

Some teams go above and beyond sharing the benefits of sustainable commuting, encouraging each other to try sustainable modes, and getting their coworkers excited about the Commuter Challenge. Those teams aren't always their size category winners, but we want to acknowledge them and reward their hard work with an office ice cream party!

FREQUENTLY

ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a commute?

The Commuter Challenge focuses specifically on your daily travel to and from your workplace. While we strongly encourage using sustainable travel modes throughout the day to run errands, grab lunch, etc. these additional trips will NOT be counted in this particular challenge. These trips should be logged as "errands" on Way to Go! Missoula.

What is a sustainable commute?

Any mode other than driving alone (walk, bike, bus, carpool, vanpool, telecommute, skateboard, rollerblade, etc.)

What counts as a carpool?

By using fewer cars to carry more people, carpool reduces traffic and lowers emissions. In order for your commute to count as a carpool, the other people in the vehicle must be eligible drivers (ie. 16 years or older with a valid driver's license.) and the car must remain at its final destination. When questioning carpool eligibility, ask yourself - Am I taking a car off the road that would otherwise be contributing to traffic and co2 emissions?

Do electric vehicles count as a sustainable mode?

Not in this challenge. The goal of the Commuter Challenge is to both reduce emissions AND mitigate traffic congestion. Driving an electric vehicle alone does not count toward the challenge, but carpooling in an electric vehicle does!

Does telecommuting count?

Yes! Telecommuting reduces traffic congestion and improves air quality almost more than any other sustainable mode. Working from home might not feel as exciting as riding your bike to the office, but it counts equally toward the challenge.
